Consular Corps of Jamaica names new head

Robert Scott, Honorary Consul to the Republic of Latvia was unanimously elected as Dean of the Consular Corps of Jamaica at its Annual General Meeting.

Scott has succeeded the former Dean, Michael Subratie, who was also Honorary Consul to Bangladesh.

The Dean attends the Governor General's Dinner - 9th February 2017

Newly appointed dean of the Consular Corps and honorary consul to Bangladesh, Michael Subratie, along with the Executive Members of the Consular Corps, warmly greeted the guests, diplomats and supporters of the consul. Specially welcoming the non-resident heads of missions, noting that he hopes they are able to enjoy some of what his beautiful island has to offer before they leave. An evening spent poolside at the Spanish Court Hotel with wine, delectable cuisine and beautiful people made the Consular Corps Reception an elegant affair.

Bustamante Childrens Hospital Tour - 21st December 2016

Members of the Consular Corps visited the Bustamante Childrens Hospital. The first major event of 2017 for the Consualr Corps will be a banquet on January 13 to honour former Prime Minister Edward Seaga. Proceeds of this event will be in aid of the Bustamante Children’s Hospital. It is being held in association with the Diplomatic Corps of Jamaica.

Governor General Visit - 9th December 2016

The newly appointed Dean of the Consular Corps Jamaica as well as the Executive team paid a courtesy visit to the Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen. 

Official Signing of the Partnership for a Prosperous Jamaica - 7th December 2016

The Dean attended Official Signing of the Partnership for a Prosperous Jamaica Agreement at King’s House, Kingston. The partnership was signed  between the CEO of the Jamaica Environment Trust, Diana Mccaulay, the President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association, O’neil Grant, President of the Private Sector Paul Scott and the government.

The Partnership for a Prosperous Jamaica will have a national focus on improving Jamaica’s record of economic growth during the period 2016-2020.

Celebrating Jamaica’s Remembrance Day - 13th November, 2016

The Dean attended the Laying of Wreath Ceremony celebrating Jamaica’s Remembrance Day. He placed a wreath at the National Heroes Circle in honour of those fallen.

Opening of Parliament 9th February 2017

The Dean attended the ceremonial opening of Parliament takes place Thursday February 9th 2017 at Gordon House in Kingston, with the traditional pomp and pageantry. The opening was highlighted by the delivery of the Throne Speech by Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen

Former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Edward Seaga, has received the inaugural Consular Corps of Jamaica Global Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to national development.

 

The award was presented during a special banquet to honour Mr. Seaga, which was jointly hosted by the Consular and Diplomatic Corps of Jamaica at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston on Friday, January 13.

The event was attended by a wide cross section of Government officials, diplomats and dignitaries, headed by Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, and Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang.

The Dean at St. Catherine Cricket Association Awards Function - 8th December, 2016

The Dean of the Consular Corps Jamaica was invited to the  St. Catherine Cricket Association Awards Function which was held on the 8th December, 2016. The Dean was the guest speaker at the ceremony.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps , Jose Tomas Ares German - Ambassador for the Dominican Republic, hosted a cocktail party in honour of the appointment of the new Dean of The Consular Corps of Jamaica, Michael Subratie.

Consular Corps Gets New Dean - 27th October 2016

The new Executive Committee took office on October 27, 2016. Michael Subratie was appointed Dean of the Consular Corps of Jamaica.

The Consular Corps represents 48 countries that do not have resident ambassadors in Jamaica, with each member serving as honorary consuls who donate their time to promoting trade and relations between Jamaica and the country they represent.

The Consular Corps of Jamaica

 The Consular Corps of Jamaica is a body whose members consist of Honorary Consuls ,Honorary Consul Generals, Honorary Vice Consuls and Career Consuls accredited to Jamaica. The objects of the Corps is to promote and maintain harmonious relations on all matters of common interest and to secure solidarity of representation and sympathetic corporation viz-a-via all authorities and organisations that may be brought into relation with the Corps.
